Danube meanders, high grass areas as well mostly Old oak forests around Danube Bordering Croatia on the West and Hungary to the North . Uper Danube National Park Oak forest used to [e part of famous Former Yugoslavia ‘Jelen’ Red Deer Institute and represents it equal half on right bank of Danube stretching on over 80 000 ha of hunting areas of North West Serbia known as a Backa Region. On the North toward Hungary there is anti-migrant fence put by Hungarian border police back in 2015 that also does not allow any ASF infected boar from Hungary or North Europe to enter Serbia and Danube is also river too big for wild boar to swim across keeping Serbian wild boar populations well isolated from the rest of Europe. Those big oak forests next to Sava River like ‘Plavna’ and ‘Kamariste’ Driven Wild Boar Estates as well the biggest flooded forest in Serbia known as ‘Koviljski Rit’ that is just 20 km East from Novi Sad.
TRIP DURATION
2 days 3 nights is the perfect trip duration, However single wild boar driven days mixed with big day on driven pheasants are also popular options for groups that have lest time but more monies. Last night is easily organised in Belgrade so it is local to the next day transfer to Belgarde Airport.
BAG SIZE
In those areas everything from 30 to 35 boar per day is possible to harvest even price is fixed per day and based on 3 bullets toward running boar counting as one dead or injured boar.
EXTRA BOAR
There is no chance to pay extra over 30 to 35 boar per day as it is daily maximum but for groups that prefer to shoot 100 boar trips, we suggest 3 driven days with 4 or 5 nights in this region with the last day being organised next to Belgrade in the government forestry estate ‘ Crni Lug’.
BULLET TO BOAR RATIO
3 bullets to 1 boar radio are long standing indicator of intensity of driven wild boar hunting trips where there are no trophy fees, and all population is shot. Having it in mind natural population of boar consist of 70% of boar that are up to 2 years old and smaller than 50 kg so picking only big animals and pretending that smaller do not exist would not result in refund being given by organisers. Each driven day is offered on those conditions with groups being advised that reasonable chances to shoot at 30 to 35 targets per day with minimum 100 bullets over 4 drives. Some people prefer those areas in Serbia because of bigger trophies and would take chances even if day is finished with 25 big boar around fire and more than 10 are injured roaming in forest that are found weeks later while areas are pushed with beaters with other teams but as we mentioned earlier day is sold based on provided chances during the day and not solely on the end of the day picture next to the open fire.
SHOOTING STYLE
*Driven Wild Boar Shooting*
This boar hunt is organised with line of hunters that are forming frontal line mostly the shape of letters L , U or I while from other side dogs and beaters are pushing areas that are monitored previous weeks for boar movement and feeding, sleeping habits. Boar is pushed from the place they are sleeping during the day to areas where they are feeding during the night and line of guns is put most of the time on the roads that are natural borders between those 2 areas. It is important to notice the person on your left and on your right side as well not to shoot in front of you before you are 100% sure that the target is wild boar. Also, during shooting on flat areas in oak forest it is not advisable to shoot more than 30 m in front since risk of ricochet hitting distant beater or dog. Guides would be provided on each stand to observe shooting and unsafe behaviour would be noticed and if necessary personal guides would lift rifles out of any unsafe hands in order to preserve safety of rest of the driven wild boar hunting team.
GROUP SIZE
10 people in the group is optimal with more than 12 people is not possible to be accommodated since that is the way the drives are designed to have 4 short drives per day with optional 5th drive in the case some of the first 4 drives are without boar being presented.
DESCRIPTION OF AREAS AND COVER
Old oak Forest with parts of very young forest with tick bushes where boar is sleeping during the day and where is pushed toward old forest with acorn or other alternative food like sugar bit or corn cubs that are thrown in areas to minimise damage and insurance claims the wild boar population might have on nearby farmland.
NUMBER OF DRIVES PER EACH DAY
Minimum 3 drives per each day with 4th drive being organised only in the case some of the first 3 drives is not showing any signs of boar or what we call ‘empty’ drive.
GUNS AND AMMUNITION
Legal minimum is to use 7mm calibre and 160 grains bullet while shooting wild boar in Serbia
DIFFICULTY
This is very demanding hunt and require groups that are more experienced with shooting driven wild boar since injured boar is not possible to find easy in those big areas and on every 3 bullets there is one injured if nit dead boar. Losing meat to injured boar is also big lost to the estate and better shooting with more experienced groups would produce even better results with minimum 29 boar on the ground with other 20% injured ad never found animals that are also counting on 35 boar days.
FITNESS REQUIREMENTS
Basic fitness is required, however, couple of visits tothe running boar range before the trip would significantly improve your chances to deliver excellent skills during driven wild boar day in Serbia
FOOD & DRINK
All food is provided over the course of trip based on 3 meals per day and all soft drinks during shooting. However, late bar drinks as well hotel bar coffee, cocktails, or fresh juices outside of main restaurant meals are paid separately.
NEAREST AIRPORT
Belgrade Airport ‘Nikola Tesla’
TRAVEL TIME
2 h 40 min is needed from London to Belgrade as well around 2h flight time from the most of European capitals. From hunters coming from the USA or Asia we recommend at least one week of Driven Wild Boar Hunting Trip in Serbia with 100 boar per trip over 3 days and at least one or 2 driven days on extremely strong driven pheasants of the byzantine stream.
